Welcome to SIGHT & SOUND. This show is all about putting a spotlight on artists you should know about including exploring the music of host, Nikhil Korula. Ever since Nikhil Korula was a child, music has been his passion. As a child singer, he performed at Carnegie Hall at the age of 10, sang at the Grammys at the age of 11, recorded with Luther Vandross at the age of 12, recorded vocals for one of Danny Elfman’s film soundtracks and performed at Rod Stewart’s wedding all by the age of 13. Music became an even bigger driving force for his life once he studied opera at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music and learned to play guitar/piano and write songs. After graduating, Korula played acoustic sets all over Los Angeles and put a band together of local jazz and rock musicians to form the Nikhil Korula Band, a group that has been selling out clubs, opening for bands like Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Jason Mraz and more, performing at festivals like Bonnaroo, Summerfest, Arroyo Seco and more since 2002. Nikhil Korula even earned a Grammy for writing the opening track, “Start It Up,” for Ziggy Marley’s Grammy winning album in 2017, but that wasn’t enough. He started a radio show called WAKE UP HOLLYWOOD on LA Talk Radio to learn more about creators in all genres of art and to understand how every artist’s creative process allows them to stay inspired. In 2023, Nikhil Korula started a blues trio and recorded his 8th album, CROSSROADS, to explore the roots of blues music and celebrate how it has evolved from its inception with Robert Johnson all the way through the music of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Gary Clark Jr and more while also contributing original songs of his own to the album in the blues style. Blues music permeates through every genre of music we know today and all of this has led Nikhil Korula to start his newest musical adventure, SIGHT & SOUND, a music show where he takes all of the forms of his bands, invites a special guest into a recording studio to mix and share musical ideas, stories and inspirations. The concept of SIGHT & SOUND is simple: It’s a live recorded series to warm your heart and feed your soul.
